Teen injured in shooting at Little Elm birthday party late Friday
A teenager was injured in a shooting during a birthday party at a Little Elm rental property late Friday, according to a statement from the Little Elm Police Department.
Around 11:30 p.m. Friday, officers responded to multiple 911 calls about gunshots and teenagers running through the neighborhood near White Oak and White Pine drives, according to the statement.
Preliminary investigations found that the incident started at a short-term rental property that had been booked for a birthday party, officials said. Most of those in attendance were students from Lewisville High School.
One teenager suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound and got to the hospital on their own before officers arrived, according to the statement.
Little Elm officials would like to remind the public that the town prohibits parties and events at short-term rental properties, according to the statement. As a result of the shooting, the town is looking into possible enforcement actions against the owners of the short-term rental.
