Fort Worth police shut down an illegal fireworks operation on East Barry and Donalee streets on July 3 after an investigation.

Police investigators identified the location after police received information about fireworks being advertised on social media.

The officers were assisted by Fort Worth Fire Department Bomb and Arson and seized a large quantity of fireworks allegedly intended for illegal sale and distribution in the city.

“Illegal fireworks are against the law and put our neighborhoods, first responders, and property at risk,” the department said in a social media post. “We will continue to enforce city ordinances and hold violators accountable.”

Setting off fireworks within the Fort Worth city limits is illegal and can result in fines of up to $2,000, according to the city code.

“Before lighting that fuse, remember that illegal fireworks put our neighborhoods, first responders, pets, and property at risk,” the department said in a separate social media post. “Let’s keep the 250th safe and enjoyable for everyone.”
