A 32-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly hitting a light pole with his sport utility vehicle late Monday and running from the scene, Fort Worth police said.

Officers responded to 300 N. University Drive about 11 p.m. after a passerby reported the accident. By the time they arrived, the SUV’s occupants had already fled the location on foot, police said.

The vehicle’s driver and registered owner, identified as Rosa Colon in police records, was located and booked into the Fort Worth City Jail. Colon faces a misdemeanor charge of duty on striking a structure/fixture, according to police.
