The Kaufman County Sheriff’s office has confirmed that the capital-murder suspect Diego Rodriguez was arrested on Friday in Douglas, Arizona.

Rodriguez, 18, has been wanted since April after he allegedly shot two people on March 26 in Kaifman County, Texas.

The victims, also 18, were identified as Kace Leatherwood and Luis Velez.

Leatherwood died as a result of the gun wound, and Velez was left wounded.

Rodriguez was taken into custody at around 3 p.m Friday, according to the Kaufman Sheriff’s department.

“This arrest comes after months of dedicated investigative work involving countless man-hours and the collaborative efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies,” The sheriff’s office said.

More details will be released as they become available.

“I want to thank every agency involved for their dedication and cooperation in bringing this suspect into custody. Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family as we continue seeking justice in this case,” Kaufman County Sheriff Bryan Beavers said.
