A police department SWAT team believed it was in a standoff at a west Fort Worth apartment with a man who sexually assaulted a relative early Wednesday, but officers did not find the suspect, a police spokesperson said.

Police went near the 8100 block of Maybach Lane about 3:45 a.m. to investigate the sexual assault.

Officers found the suspect’s vehicle and saw the suspect. The suspect parked, ran into an apartment and barricaded themselves, the spokesperson said.

The officers set a perimeter and later determined the suspect was not inside the apartment.
