Fort Worth teen followed by stranger in apparent attempted kidnapping, cops say
Fort Worth police are investigating after a 15-year-old girl reported that a man tried to lure her into his pickup Monday morning in an apparent attempted kidnapping in the Rosemont neighborhood.
The teen, identified as Kaytlynn, told KXAS-TV that she was walking to the bus stop when she noticed a stranger following her in a white two-door Ford truck. The man started yelling at her and said he could take her to school, the high school freshman reported.
“I was scared because I thought he’s trying to kidnap me,” Kaytlynn said to KXAS. “I thought that would be the last time I saw my family.”
The incident took place near South Adams Street and West Dickson Street, according to police. Some passersby stopped and helped the teen.
Carmen Orozco, the teen’s mother, told KXAS that a woman who saw what had happened got the truck’s license plate number and took Kaytlynn back home.
“I truly thank her for being at the right place at the right time,” Orozco said.
Orozco learned the truck’s license plate information from the woman and drove around looking for the vehicle, KXAS reported. The family thinks the suspect might live in their neighborhood.
Police said they “will be following all leads available.” The driver of the truck was described as a Hispanic man between 40 and 50 years old.
