An 18-year-old man was shot, and a police officer assaulted during a fight Thursday at the Arlington Highlands shopping center, police said.

Officers responded to a fight shortly after 10 p.m. in the parking lot of Pluckers, 4000 Bagpiper Way No. 140. An off-duty officer who was at Pluckers tried to break up the fight, but was assaulted by Justin Wallace, 45, and Adrian Martinez, 32, police said. The officer was not seriously injured.

During the fight, an 18-year-old man began to hit Martinez with a handgun before firing multiple shots into the ground. One of the bullets bounced off the parking lot and hit an 18-year-old in the foot, police said.

Jonathan Ybarra was booked into the Arlington City Jail on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of THC.

The 18-year-old with the gunshot wound was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Wallace and Martinez attempted to drive from the scene, police said, but responding officers pulled them over.

Wallace was charged with one count of assault on a peace officer and one count of driving while intoxicated. Martinez was charged with one count of assault on a peace officer. Both men were booked into the Arlington City Jail.
