A man was injured, and his neighbor arrested, in a shooting Thursday, officials with the Grapevine Police Department said in a statement.

Police responded to the scene in the 3300 block of Wilshire Avenue at around 1 p.m., according to the statement.

Shenkoru Sleshi Maketa, 64, was arrested and faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Maketa’s neighbor was taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries.

As a precaution, schools nearby — including Heritage Elementary, Heritage Middle School, Colleyville Heritage High School, GCISD’s Early Childhood Development Center and Grapevine Elementary — were placed on “secure” status until police could get control of the scene, according to the statement.
