Man and woman die after Benbrook shooting on Plantation Drive, police say
A man and a woman died after a shooting at a Benbrook home last week, police said.
Benbrook police and EMS responded to a report of shots fired about 12 a.m. on April 14 in the 4200 block of Plantation Drive, police said in a statement.
When officers arrived, they found a man and a woman with apparent gunshot wounds, police said. Both of them were taken to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth.
According to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office, the man, identified as 39-year-old Cliffton Wayne Jones, died in the emergency room at 12:47 a.m. on April 14. Results of an autopsy are pending to determine his official cause and manner of death.
The woman, identified as 46-year-old Lisa Speer Craig, was taken to the hospital in serious condition, and she died on Friday, April 17. According to the medical examiner, her death was a homicide caused by a gunshot wound to the neck.
Police did not release details about what led to the shooting, the relationship between the man and woman, or the identity of the suspected shooter.
In a separate fatal shooting in Benbrook on Friday, April 17, an elementary assistant school principal was killed, and a man faces a manslaughter charge, according to police.
