A 22-year-old man was arrested in the shooting of five people during a family gathering at a southeast Fort Worth home Saturday night following an argument, police said.

Fort Worth police officers responded to the 5200 block of Shackleford Street shortly before 11 p.m. to investigate the shooting, police said in a news release.

Officers found that five people were shot. The shooting victims were taken to local hospitals for treatment, police said.

Police have not released information about the condition of the shooting victims. According to a police report, the victims are two women and three men ranging from 20 to 24 years old.

Investigators determined that an argument among people at the gathering escalated when Jose Manuel Garcia began shooting, hitting several victims, police said.

Garcia was arrested and faces a charge of aggravated assault with deadly weapon, police said.

Detectives from the gun violence unit are investigating the circumstances that led to the shooting, police said.

“Gun violence will not be tolerated. The Fort Worth Police Department will continue holding those responsible accountable and ask the community to seek peaceful resolutions,” police said in the release.

This was an isolated incident and anyone with further information is asked to contact the Fort Worth Police Department, the release stated.
