Fort Worth man fatally stabbed with bayonet

A fight in a residence between two people left a Fort Worth man dead after being repeatedly stabbed with a bayonet and another man in custody, police said Wednesday.

The victim was identified as Shane Veselka, 40, who died Monday at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Azle shortly after the fight.

Police arrested Floyd L. Nunley, 49, of Springtown, who remained in the Parker County Jail on Wednesday.

A patrol officer responded to a stabbing call about 4:15 p.m. Monday in the 1000 block of Shady Lane.

When the officer arrived, Veselka was found on the ground under some trees, bleeding and unresponsive.

Nunley was arrested at the scene.

Nunley told police that Veselka walked into the house and grabbed him in a headlock, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by the Star-Telegram on Wednesday.

Nunley pulled Veselka toward a chair, where Nunley grabbed a bayonet and stabbed the victim, the affidavit says.

No other injuries were reported.
