A woman was stabbed and a juvenile arrested after an altercation inside a Burleson library on March 13, police said.

Officers initially responded to a report of a person with a weapon at the library, and found that a juvenile had allegedly assaulted a female patron with a knife after an “interaction between the two,” according to a statement.

“Library staff acted quickly and courageously to help keep patrons safe, and Burleson Police officers arrived promptly to secure the juvenile and ensure the building was safe,” Burleson officials wrote in a post on the library’s Facebook page.

The woman had minor injuries and was treated at the scene, police said. The boy was arrested and faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

“The library remains open and will continue to welcome guests as usual,” city officials said. “We are grateful for the quick response of our staff and the Burleson Police Department.”
