A 67-year-old woman was cut and injured early Saturday at an east Fort Worth apartment complex, and a suspect is in custody.

Officers responded to Forest View Apartments at 5108 Brentwood Stair Road after a 911 caller reported that someone had been cut with a blade. They found a person with several lacerations, police said.

The injured woman was taken to a hospital for treatment and is expected to survive. Investigators think the incident started as a gathering that turned violent, according to police.

James Edwards Jr., 55, was arrested and booked into the Fort Worth City Jail, police said. He faces an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge.
