A North Texas man who is a former educator and was involved in children’s ministries at churches was arrested Thursday and is charged with possession of child pornography, authorities said.

Detectives with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at a residence in Venus on Feb. 19 as a part of an investigation into the possession of material depicting child sexual abuse, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Andrew Daniel Centeno, who confessed to possessing child pornography during the investigation, was taken into custody, according to the release.

Centeno was booked into the Johnson County Jail and his bond has been set at $150,000, according to the county jail records.

Investigators determined that Centeno was employed by Venus ISD in various roles from 2020 through the end of 2024. “Additionally, he has a history of involvement with children’s ministries at various churches,” officials said.

The Sheriff’s Office is seeking information from the public regarding Centeno and any contact he may have had with children. Anyone with information relevant to this investigation is asked to contact Detective Richards at arichards@johnsoncountytx.org or 817-556-6058 Ext. 3521.
