‘Bullets were passing’: 5 arrested for reckless shooting near Fort Worth homes
Fort Worth police have arrested five young men who were recklessly shooting their weapons the night of Feb. 8, the department said in a news release Friday.
Video footage posted on the Fort Worth Police Department Facebook page shows the men laughing and firing handguns. Spurts of flame can be seen coming from the weapons.
Police responded to the 3200 block of Yuma Street, near Mississippi Avenue in south Fort Worth, about 9:20 p.m. Officers in the Real Time Crime Center could see surveillance footage of several people recklessly shooting firearms at that location and in the direction of a neighborhood.
Multiple 911 callers reported that “bullets were passing by their heads,” the release states.
Officers obtained the license plate number of the suspects’ vehicle from the RTCC and conducted a “high-risk traffic stop.” Five men were arrested, and multiple guns were seized, according to the release.
Police also found marijuana in a backpack, and one of the suspects tried to conceal his weapon by taking it out of his waistband and hiding it under the car seat, the release states.
“Officers determined that all five individuals were shooting in the direction of occupied houses beyond the fence line, demonstrating a reckless disregard for human life,” the release states.
The suspects all face multiple charges, including two counts of deadly conduct and one count of discharging a firearm in certain municipalities, according to the release.
Eighteen-year-old Alfredo Jimenez is being held in the Tarrant County Jail on a $26,500 bond, according to court records. The other suspects — 19-year-old Darius Chandler, 18-year-old Draylon Williams, 19-year-old Izac Villarreal and 18-year-old Donavan Wright — have bonded out.
