A 22-year-old suspect is in custody after allegedly attacking a man with a sharp object during a dispute over a stolen car early Thursday, Feb. 5.

A man was injured in the parking lot of an east Fort Worth apartment complex early Thursday while trying to recover his stolen car, police said.

Officers responded to 1525 Sandy Lane about 3:40 a.m. The injured man told them he’d traced his stolen vehicle to that location and confronted the suspect, who was inside the car.

The suspect attacked the man with a sharp object, according to police, and ran from the scene. Officers arrested him nearby and transported him to the Fort Worth City Jail.

The car owner’s injuries aren’t life-threatening, police said. The suspect, 22-year-old Trenton Thomas, faces an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge, according to jail records.
