A woman was killed inside her south Fort Worth home Friday night after she was struck by a stray bullet that came from outside the house, police said.

Fort Worth Fire EMS was called to the 3400 block of Tahiti Lane about 8:50 p.m. after family members reported the woman had fallen and apparently hit her head, according to the 911 call sheet.

The woman was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital, where medical personnel discovered her injury was actually a gunshot wound and notified police.

The victim, 66-year-old Magdalene Mancho, died in the emergency room, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s website.

Investigators think someone fired a gun outside, and the bullet entered the house and hit Mancho. According to police, there was a report of shots fired in the area about an hour before EMS was called to the home.

Homicide detectives are reviewing surveillance footage and working to identify any suspects or vehicles connected to the shooting.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Fort Worth Police Department Homicide Unit at 817-392-4330 or Tarrant County Crime Stoppers at 817-469-8477.
