A man was fatally shot early Friday at a house in north Fort Worth, and his roommate was arrested, police said.

Officers responded to the 2800 block of Northwest Loraine Street about 12:20 a.m. after receiving a call about the shooting. Fort Worth Fire EMS also responded, according to the 911 call sheet, but the injured man died at the scene.

Officers found the victim’s roommate, Aaron Renteria, at the home, police said in a news release Friday. Renteria was taken into custody in connection with the shooting and booked into the Fort Worth City Jail. The 42-year-old suspect faces a murder charge, according to jail records.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will publicly identify the man who died and officially determine his cause and manner of death.

Police say homicide detectives are interviewing potential witnesses to learn what led up to the fatal shooting. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Fort Worth Police Department at 817-392-4222. Anonymous tips can be reported to Tarrant County Crime Stoppers at 469tips.com or 817-469-8477.
