A man who shot at three police officers in Westworth Village pleaded guilty on Wednesday to aggravated assault of a public servant, and a judge placed him under a term of deferred adjudication probation.

Eight months after he fired the shots, Jacob LaGrone, 31, was married in France in a $59 million viral wedding.

LaGrone fired at a Westworth Village police officer and at two Westover Hills officers at his house on River Trail Court in March 2023.

The officers responded to the house to check on reports of a disturbance and shots fired. When they arrived, the officers were fired upon, Westworth Village officials have said.

The punishment range for the offense to which LaGrone pleaded guilty is five to 99 years, or life, in prison. He pleaded guilty in Criminal District Court No. 4.

The Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office in August 2023 offered LaGrone a plea agreement under which he would be sentenced to 25 years in prison, according to a record filed by the district clerk.

“Justice was achieved through three guilty pleas to aggravated assault of a public servant,” District Attorney Phil Sorrells wrote in a statement. “Our office carefully evaluated the facts, the evidence, and the likely trial outcomes before reaching this resolution.

“We support the officers involved and remain grateful that none were physically injured. Mr. LaGrone will be supervised for seven years under strict conditions, and our office will pursue adjudication if any violations occur.”

LaGrone, a Nashville native, married Madelaine Brockway, whose family lives in the Fort Worth area. The ceremony at the Chateau de Villette near Paris was designated “the wedding of the century” in a TikTok video posted by HMR Designs.

Brockway and others documented the five-day celebration on Instagram, and it drew widespread attention on social media. The wedding included an overnight stay at the Palace of Versailles. Band Maroon 5 performed at the wedding reception.

The bride’s father, Robert Brockway, owns a group of Mercedes-Benz dealerships in Florida and several homes in the Fort Worth area.

In response to an inquiry from a reporter, defense attorney Jeff Kearney, whom LaGrone retained, wrote on behalf of his client: “We are pleased we were able to reach a fair resolution for all parties. Jacob and his family look forward to moving on to the next chapter of their life.”
