Afghan national arrested in Tarrant County one day before DC shooting, DHS says

An Afghan national was arrested and charged with making terroristic threats in Tarrant County on Tuesday, Department of Homeland Security officials said.

Mohammad Dawood Alokozay is accused of posting a video on TikTok in which he indicated that he was building a bomb to be used on a target in Fort Worth, officials said.

According to a post on X by Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary for public affairs for the Department of Homeland Security, Alokozay was allowed into the United States under the Operation Allies Welcome during President Joe Biden’s term.

Alokozay’s arrest took place the day before a gunman, 29-year-old Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal, shot two members of the National Guard stationed in Washington D.C..

Lakanwal entered the U.S. under the same Biden-era initiative, according to CBS News.

Alokozay is being held in the Tarrant County Jail, according to online jail records.
