A 43-year-old man is accused of trying to rob the same Fort Worth bank twice.

The Fort Worth Police Department said that Christopher McKay walked into the PNC Bank in the 8800 block of Camp Bowie West Blvd. about 10 a.m. Thursday. He jumped over the counter, told employees he was armed with a handgun, and demanded cash, a police spokesperson said.

Police said the tills were locked, so McKay was unsuccessful in getting any money and he ran away from the scene.

“He was located nearby and placed in custody,” the spokesperson said. “An ambulance was notified as the suspect was going through fentanyl withdrawals.”

This wasn’t McKay’s first robbery, police said. Nine years ago, he was arrested and charged with robbing the same bank, for which he spent seven years in a federal prison.

McKay was booked into the Tarrant County Jail on Friday and faces a charge of aggravated robbery. His bond has not been set, and it’s unclear whether he has a defense attorney.
