North Texas man fatally shot early Friday morning, Denton police say
Detectives with the Denton Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting after officers found a man bleeding from a gunshot wound on a sidewalk outside a house.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene by medics after authorities were called to the 4600 block of Merlot Drive, in south Denton, about 4:50 a.m. Friday.
“A woman, who resided at the house, was identified as the shooter and is cooperating with the investigation,” police said in a news release. No arrest has been made.
Police said this was an isolated incident between two people who knew each other, and there is no active threat to the community.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the man who died after his next of kin has been notified.
