Murder suspect turns himself in after fatal shooting in Kennedale, police say
A murder suspect accused of using a shotgun to shoot a man in Kennedale on Saturday, Oct. 4, turned himself in on Tuesday, police say.
Officers were called to a report of a shooting in progress about 1:30 a.m. Saturday in the 1400 block of Gilman Road. Police were told that a man shot the victim after a brief altercation, according to a news release.
The victim was taken to Medical City Arlington hospital, where he later died. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified him as 43-year-old John William Kirkland.
The shooter fled the scene before officers arrived, Kennedale police said.
Police said the suspect they were looking for is Jackie Lee Allsbrook, 35.
Allsbrook, who also goes by the nickname “Pokey,” turned himself in at the Kennedale Police Department on Tuesday afternoon, police said. He was wanted on charges of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
