A 20-year-old man was shot to death earlier this month at a hotel in Forest Hill, authorities said.

Anthony Flentroy was slain on Aug. 1 at the Hampton Inn & Suites in the 6500 block of Park Brook, along Interstate 20, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. Flentroy’s death was a homicide caused by gunshot wounds, a pathologist concluded.

Officers detained at the hotel a person of interest in the killing, Forest Hill Police Department Chief David Hernandez said. Police have not made an arrest in the case.

Police did not say whether Flentroy was inside or outside the hotel when he was shot.

Flentroy’s life “was characterized by his warmth and generous spirit,” according to an obituary published on a funeral home website.

“Anthony made a significant impact in his short life, working diligently as a forklift operator,” according to the obituary. “He exemplified dedication and hard work.”
