Police on Wednesday arrested a suspect on suspicion of murder in the February killing of a man at a northwest Fort Worth apartment building where the victim’s former girlfriend lived.

In the breezeway outside an apartment, Eric Hawkins, 32, shot to death Michael Andree, 37, Fort Worth police said. He died on the third-floor landing.

Andree was at his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and confronted the ex-girlfriend and Hawkins as they tried to enter the apartment about 11:15 a.m. on Feb. 9, police said. The building is in the 2900 block of Watermark Drive, south of NW Loop 820.

Hawkins pulled out a pistol and fired shots at Andree, police said. Andree’s death was caused by multiple gunshot wounds, a Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office pathologist concluded.

On the day of the killing, police said that Hawkins was cooperating with detectives’ investigation.
