2 men killed, 1 injured in Arlington shooting; 17-year-old suspect arrested
Two young men were killed and a teenager was injured in a shooting at an Arlington gas station that investigators believe resulted from a fight on Saturday night, April 26, police said. A suspect has been arrested.
About 10 p.m., officers responded to the QuikTrip gas station at 5601 S. Cooper St. to investigate the double homicide, according to a news release.
When officers arrived at the crime scene, they found 19-year-old Ayaz Mohsin Abdullah and 20-year-old Omed Abdal with gunshot wounds. The two men were lying unresponsive in the parking lot, the release stated.
Police said both victims were taken to hospitals, where they were later pronounced dead.
Officers also found another 19-year-old man who was shot in the foot. He was taken to a hospital and has since been treated and released, police said.
The suspect and multiple people involved in the incident were still at the QT station when officers arrived and were detained, police said.
Detectives spoke with witnesses and learned that two groups got into a fight in the gas station parking lot, police said.
During the fight the suspect, 17-year-old Saman Islam, got a gun from a car and fired multiple rounds, striking the victims, according to police.
It is unclear what started the fight, police said.
Islam was arrested and booked into the Arlington City Jail. As of Tuesday, he was being held in the Tarrant County Jail with bond set at $1.1 million. He faces charges of capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victims who died.
