A truck carrying 43 kilograms of fentanyl with a street value of about $1.4 million was seized by the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office last weekend, authorities said.

Sheriff’s deputies seized the largest amount of M-30 fentanyl pills in the department’s history during the traffic stop on Interstate 20, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release on Wednesday, April 2.

Deputies stopped the pickup truck as it entered Tarrant County. A police dog was brought in to do a “free air sniff” of the truck and the dog alerted to the presence of illegal drugs, according to the release.

Deputies searched the truck and found five packages containing 350,000 counterfeit M-30 pills laced with fentanyl hidden within the gas tank, the release stated.

The driver was arrested and taken to the Tarrant County Jail, the Sheriff’s Office said. The suspect’s name has not been released.
