Hurst police have arrested a man they say prompted a standoff with police after cutting his wife, according to a city news release.

Officers responded to a home in the 700 block of Castle Drive at around 10:40 a.m. March 28 after a report of a stabbing, officials said.

Officers located the woman, who had a laceration to her abdomen. She was taken to a hospital, according to the release.

The suspect, Steven Hannah, was still inside the home, and refused to exit when officers asked him to, officials said.

Tarrant SWAT teams responded to the house and deployed gas into the home at around 1:15 p.m. , at which point Hannah surrendered to police, according to the statement.

Hannah is being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The woman is in stable condition, according to police.
