WATCH: Man robs Fort Worth Whataburger with big knife after his card payments are declined
Fort Worth police have arrested a man they say robbed a Whataburger restaurant with a knife after the cards he tried to use to pay for his meal were declined, according to a post on X.
Police did not release the suspect’s name.
The robbery occurred about 9:15 a.m. on Feb. 26 at the Whataburger at 4051 E. Lancaster Ave, police said in a social media post.
The man had placed an order at the Texas-based fast food chain restaurant and tried to pay with several different cards, but they were all declined, Fort Worth police said.
Security camera video of the robbery, released by police, shows the man briefly step away from the counter and pull a large knife out of his pocket.
The Whataburger’s employees “became frightened” and moved away from the customer-service counter to create a safe distance between themselves and the man, police said.
The video shows the man hit the counter several times with the knife in his hand and then walk behind the counter into the kitchen to grab a bag of food. He left the restaurant on foot, police said.
