Sgt. Kevin Morris was arrested by the Texas Rangers on a warrant issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Crowley Police Department said in a news release on Friday.

Details about what information the sergeant is accused of misusing have not been released.

Morris, 31, was taken to the Tarrant County Jail, the release stated. He was released on $3,500 bond on Friday morning, according to jail records. It’s unclear whether he has obtained a defense attorney.

During a separate internal affairs investigation, Chief of Police Kit Long determined that Morris had violated departmental policies and procedures, which led to him being fired, according to the release.

“The Crowley Police Department is comprised of dedicated men and women who serve with exceptional integrity, professionalism, and accountability,” the release stated. “The department is committed to holding its members accountable for failing to meet the high standards expected of a Crowley police officer.”
