Search for shooting suspect led to shelter-in-place order near Lake Carolyn: Irving police
Irving police asked residents in the 800 block of Lake Carolyn Parkway to stay inside Friday afternoon because officers were searching for a shooting suspect who lives in the area, a police spokesperson said.
The suspect was not in his apartment when police searched it, and he is still at large.
The shooting happened about 4 a.m. in the 1100 block of Hidden Ridge, police said. Officers found two victims who had wounds that were not believed to be life-threatening.
The suspect, Luis Enrique Moreno, was identified by witnesses, and investigators learned Moreno lives in the 800 block of Lake Carolyn Parkway. Moreno’s car was found in that area, and officers set up a perimeter while they obtained arrest and search warrants.
Police announced the shelter-in-place order on social media about 12:40 p.m. and lifted it about 2:30 p.m.
“Out of an abundance of caution, residents in the area were asked to shelter in place while the operation took place,” police said in a news release. “Unfortunately, when officers entered Moreno’s apartment, he was not found.”
Moreno is wanted on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Police ask anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact Detective Mayorga at (972) 721-3547, amayorga@cityofirving, or the Irving Police Department at (972) 273-1010.
