Man arrested in Haltom City Christmas Eve kidnapping case, police say
A man has been arrested in connection to a Christmas Eve kidnapping in Haltom City, officials with the Haltom City Police Department said on Facebook.
The man, 35-year-old Eduardo Javier Ordonez Godoy of Honduras, was arrested in Oklahoma City on Christmas Day, police said.
Godoy allegedly kidnapped a 22-year-old woman from the Acacia Apartments in Haltom City at around 4:45 a.m., forcing her into her vehicle and driving off, according to police.
The suspect threatened the victim and drove her to a nearby bank, where he forced her to withdraw money before taking her to another apartment complex in Grapevine, police said.
The victim escaped physically unharmed and found help, and Godoy fled in her vehicle, police said.
Haltom City police entered the stolen vehicle’s information in a database, and it was found on the evening of Christmas in an Oklahoma City parking lot, police said.
Godoy was inside the vehicle and was taken into custody by Oklahoma City police, officials said. Evidence connected to the kidnapping was recovered at the scene.
Haltom City detectives traveled to Oklahoma City to interview Godoy, who admitted to his involvement in the offense, officials said.
Godoy is charged with offenses in both cities related to the kidnapping, the theft of the vehicle and the use of firearms, police said.
He is being held at the Oklahoma County Detention Center and has an active ICE detainer hold due to his immigration status, officials said.
