Fort Worth police have arrested a man they believe is responsible for a string of five robberies over the last several weeks, officials with the department said on Saturday.

The man, identified as 45-year-old Roderic Dennis, was arrested after robbery detectives received numerous leads from the public, police said.

Dennis is accused of robbing three food stores, two of them twice, over a period of about one month, police said.

The first robbery occurred on October 30 at the 365 Food Store at 3025 N. Main Street in Fort Worth, according to a statement from the police department.

Dennis entered the store, threatened the clerk with a knife, and took a box of money, police said. Dennis robbed that location again on Dec. 7.

Dennis also robbed the ABC Food Store at 2787 Hemphill Street twice: once on Nov. 15 and again on Dec. 1, according to the statement. He stole money and checks on both occasions, police said.

At the time of his arrest, detectives found that Dennis had violated his bond on two robbery warrants from the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office in April, police said.

Dennis has been charged with three counts of robbery and two counts of aggravated robbery, police said.
