Woman faces capital murder charge after 3 men were shot at Fort Worth apartments
A woman has been arrested in connection with a shooting that killed two men in the parking lot of a west Fort Worth apartment complex on Thanksgiving night.
Paige Wheaton, 20, was arrested on Tuesday, Dec. 17, and faces a charge of capital murder, according to jail records.
On Nov. 28, officers responded to an apartment complex in the 2800 block of Broadmoor Drive after a 911 caller reported gunshots.
When officers arrived, they found three men who had been shot. One of them was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other two were taken to a hospital. One man died at the hospital, and one remained in critical condition.
Javon Xavier Gayton, 18, of Arlington, was identified as the man who died at the scene. J Tavian Lee Howard, 23, of Fort Worth, died at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital.
Homicide detectives found that one victim was in a vehicle with an unknown person when two suspects approached his car. The preliminary investigation determined that the three men exchanged gunfire and were shot, police said.
Police have not described what Wheaton’s alleged role in the shooting was.
