Former North Texas high school teacher arrested, accused of sexually assaulting student
A former North Texas high school teacher accused of sexual assault of a child has been arrested after having an improper relationship with a student who was living at the teacher’s home, according to police.
Grapevine police arrested 29-year-old Alainee Simonson on Friday, Dec. 13, a police spokesperson said.
Simonson is accused of committing the crimes in 2022 and 2023 when she was a teacher for the Lewisville Independent School District.
The victim was a student at Killough High School, police said.
Simonson was booked into the Tarrant County Jail on Friday and released on $25,000 bond on Saturday, Dec. 14, according to court records. She faces charges of sexual assault of a child and improper relationship between an educator and a student.
Court records do not list a defense attorney for Simonson.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by the Star-Telegram, a Grapevine police officer met with the victim in September of this year to take a report regarding the alleged sexual abuse.
In 2022, the student had been living with a relative who moved away, and Simonson offered to let the then 16-year-old boy stay at her Grapevine home while he finished school, according to the affidavit.
The teen told police that the abuse began about two weeks after he moved into the teacher’s home, when she came into his room and got into bed with him, the affidavit states.
The boy told police that he did not want to have sex with the teacher but that he was afraid to say anything because she was paying for his immigration attorney and she threatened to use that against him if he did not comply, the affidavit states.
In an interview with police, Simonton denied that any sexual abuse occurred, according to the affidavit.
Lewisville ISD officials said in a statement that the school district, police and CPS initially investigated allegations against Simonton in 2023 but they were not able to confirm an inappropriate relationship at that time.
“The district, law enforcement and Child Protective Services investigated reports of concerning behavior by the teacher but were unable to substantiate an inappropriate relationship between the teacher and a student at the time the concerns were reported,” the district said in its statement. “The teacher was immediately placed on administrative leave, and submitted her resignation in February 2023.”
Simonton had worked as an English teacher at Killough High since August 2022.
Grapevine police said they are working with school officials on the active investigation. There is no evidence at this time to suggest additional victims, police said. Any parent who believes their child may be a victim is asked to call the police.
