1 killed, 4 injured in separate early morning shootings, Fort Worth police say
One person was killed and four others injured in the early hours of Oct. 5 in two separate shootings, Fort Worth police said.
Officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 3200 block of Las Vegas Trail shortly before 1:30 a.m. Saturday regarding a shooting call. They found two male victims, according to police.
Investigators learned the victims had gotten into a verbal argument with the suspect and another man, police said. The suspect initially left the scene but later returned and started shooting at the victims and other bystanders, police said.
A suspect in the homicide was booked into the city jail on Saturday night. Xavien Martinez, 21, faces a murder charge, according to jail records.
One of the men who was injured died at a local hospital, according to police. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified him as 36-year-old Angel Gomez.
The other victim’s injuries aren’t believed to be life-threatening, police said.
In the second shooting, officers responded to a local hospital around 4:45 a.m. regarding three wounded victims. Someone shot at their vehicle while they were traveling south on Interstate 35W, police said.
The suspects in the I-35 shooting fled the scene and are still at large, according to police. The three victims received treatment for their injuries and are expected to survive.
The motive for that shooting is under investigation.
