A 16-year-old boy was seriously injured in a suspected road rage shooting in Haltom City early Sunday, according to police.

Officers responded to the shooting near the 4400 block of East Belknap Street between 4:15 and 4:45 a.m., police said in a news release.

The two vehicles involved in the suspected road rage incident were traveling northeast on East Belknap from Bernice Street and continued through the light at Layton and Belknap, the release said.

The suspect vehicle is believed to be a sedan that was occupied by a male driver and three male passengers. One of the passengers in that car fired at the other vehicle and shot the 16-year-old victim who “is now fighting for his life in a local hospital,” police said.

Detectives are seeking information from the public, including any video from cameras near the shooting location. Contact the Haltom City Police Department at 817-222-7000 or by emailing Detective Key at dkey@haltomcitytx.com. His direct number is 817-222-7034.
