Arlington police arrested a father and son after a fight during which the father was shot.

Arlington police responded to a shooting Wednesday evening at a home on Blair Lane and found a father and son fighting in the garage.

Sammy Longoria Sr., 64, had a gunshot wound to his arm, which detectives believe was inflicted by his son, 43-year-old Sammy Longoria Jr., police said in a news release.

Both men were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police learned that a verbal argument escalated when Sammy Longoria Jr. allegedly fired a shot through his father’s bedroom window. It is also believed that Sammy Longoria Sr. physically assaulted his son and possibly had a firearm.

Further investigation revealed that Sammy Longoria Sr., who has a felony record, is barred from possessing a gun, police said. He faces charges of assault causing bodily injury and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

Sammy Longoria Jr. was charged with aggravated assault family violence using a deadly weapon.

A search of the home uncovered marijuana, resulting in additional drug charges for both men, police said. After receiving medical clearance, they were booked into the Arlington City Jail.
