Teen arrested on capital murder in fatal shooting of 16-year-old in Fort Worth
Fort Worth police have arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Jayden Torres.
Michael Love, 17, was taken into custody and booked into the Fort Worth City Jail on Thursday on suspicion of capital murder, according to jail records.
Torres was shot on May 26 during what police have described as a robbery. The Tarrant County medical examiner identified Torres, who was found near the 3800 block of Silverton Circle with a gunshot wound to the head. Emergency medical responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
The crime scene was the front parking lot of The Spring at Silverton, a senior living community. It is believed that the shooting occurred during an attempted robbery targeting Torres, police said.
The initial police response came from the South Division of the Fort Worth Police Department, which received the shooting call shortly after 10 p.m. on May 26. Homicide detectives have been investigating the case since then.
Love also faces charges of aggravated robbery, unlawful carrying of a weapon, possession of marijuana, unauthorized use of a vehicle and evading arrest, according to jail records. He was in the Tarrant County Jail on Friday with bond set at $500,000 on the capital murder count.
