A man died and another person was injured after a car fleeing from a shooting crashed into a Fort Worth home Thursday night, police said.

Police were called about 11:20 p.m. to the 7200 block of Silver City Drive, in northwest Fort Worth near Eagle Mountain.

Homicide detectives learned that the shooting victim and the suspect had argued over narcotics and the argument turned physical, Fort Worth police said in a Friday news release. Another person joined the fight to try to help the victim, police said, and the suspect pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots.

The victim was shot at least once in his upper body in the 7200 block of Tin Star Drive. The victim and some witnesses got into his car and drove away but crashed into a house a short distance away, police said.

The shooting victim died and another injured person from the car was transported to a hospital.

A police report identified the man who died as 19-year-old Darius Brooks, of Spring Town.

There were residents inside the house, but none of them were injured.

The shooting suspect was detained but had not been arrested, police said Friday. Homicide detectives were interviewing witnesses and the suspect.
