Pedestrian critically injured by hit-and-run vehicle near downtown Fort Worth, police say

A man was struck and critically injured by a vehicle while trying to cross a Fort Worth street Wednesday night. The driver fled the scene, police say.

A pedestrian was critically injured Wednesday night in a hit-and-run accident near downtown Fort Worth, police said.

Officers responded to the intersection of Riverside Drive and E. Lancaster Avenue around 9:15 p.m. regarding a major accident. A passenger vehicle traveling north on Riverside Drive hit a man who was crossing the road. The driver fled the scene without stopping to help, according to police.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. Detectives from the Traffic Investigation Unit will investigate the accident.

No arrests have been announced.
