Man dies after being shot in the back; suspect at large: Fort Worth police say

Police are investigating a shooting on Fort Worth’s north side that killed a 46-year-old man Friday night, officials said.

Officers responded to the 1000 block of Northwest 16th Street shortly after 8:30 p.m. regarding a shooting call. They found a man with apparent gunshot wounds, according to police.

The victim was shot while sitting inside a car, police said. The suspect fled before officers arrived and was still at large Saturday.

The victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition and died from his injuries, officials said. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s website identified the man as Casey Robert Guerrero.

Guerrero died in the operating room shortly before 10 p.m. from a gunshot wound to the back, according to the medical examiner.

The investigation is ongoing, and the Fort Worth Police Department Homicide Unit is following several leads, according to officials.
