25-year-old fatally shot at north Fort Worth park early Friday, officials say

Fort Worth police are investigating a shooting that killed a 25-year-old man at a north Fort Worth park early Friday, officials said.

Officers responded to Rosen Park at 2200 McCandless St. shortly after 2:15 a.m. regarding a shooting call, according to police. They found a man with “an apparent injury” to his upper body. The victim was pronounced dead the scene, according to police and MedStar.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office website identified the victim as Gabriel Cardenas Jr. of Fort Worth. Cardenas’ cause and manner of death aren’t yet listed on the medical examiner’s site.

A woman called 911 to report her son had been killed, according to a police call log.

No arrests have been made.

The Homicide Unit responded to the scene and is investigating all leads into the fatal shooting, police said. Anyone with information or video footage is asked to contact the Homicide Unit at 817-392-4330.
