A former Tarrant County deputy constable was arrested in connection with a February assault and investigators believe he may have assaulted other women, the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Oluwafemi “Femi” Awe, 31, was arrested Friday and faces a charge of indecent assault. Authorities allege he assaulted a woman on Feb. 25 and said he might have used his position as a deputy constable to assault others.

Awe served as a deputy constable in Precinct 5, according to his social media.

Awe is being represented by defense attorney Tiffany Burks of the law firm Varghese Summersett.

In a statement Wednesday, Burks said, “Not everything salacious is criminal. We welcome the opportunity to defend the accusations against Femi.”

Awe was released on $5,000 bond Friday, according to jail records.

The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information about Awe to contact Detective Holland at 817-884-2233 or KKHolland@tarrantcountytx.gov or Lt. Morris at 817-884-3306 or CEMorris@tarrantcountytx.gov.
