Fort Worth police are asking for information to help identify suspects in a shooting that killed a man outside a restaurant on Tuesday afternoon.

At 3:30 p.m., police responded to Los Aibertos restaurant, at 6721 Bridge St. in east Fort Worth, to investigate the homicide.

When officers arrived, they found a man with gunshot wounds to his torso, according to a news release. Officers provided aid and the victim was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The victim was in the parking lot of the business when he became involved in an argument with three people, police said in the release. One of the suspects pulled out a gun and fired multiple rounds, striking the victim at least once, according to police.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 21-year-old Damarreon Barnett, of Everman.

Barnett’s mother was with him and pleaded with the suspects not to hurt her son, who had recently gotten out of the hospital, a family member told WFAA.

“She begged the guy,” Barnett’s aunt Ebony Avery said. “She said stop shooting. She said don’t shoot him. He is sick. Don’t shoot, don’t shoot. She told him not to shoot and the guy shot him again.”

Employees inside the restaurant heard the gunshots and locked the doors to make sure workers and customers were safe, they told WFAA.

The Fort Worth Police Department Homicide Unit responded and is pursuing several leads.

Detectives are asking anyone with video or other information about the killing to contact the Fort Worth police non-emergency line at 817-392-4222. Tipsters can remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers of Tarrant County at (817) 469-8477.
