Fort Worth police are asking for the public’s help locating witnesses of a hit-and-run accident that killed an 82-year-old man.

The victim told officers that an 18-wheeler moved into his lane and struck the front of his car as he was driving eastbound on Interstate 30, police said in a social media post Saturday. The accident occurred Feb. 2 in the 1700 block of I-30.

The impact of the collision caused the victim’s car to spin and strike a guardrail. The 82-year-old, identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner as Charlie Jones Jr., died at a Fort Worth hospital two days after the crash.

Anyone who has information about this hit-and-run accident or the driver of the 18-wheeler is asked to call Detective Carter at 817-392-4885.
