Two arrested in fight where shots were fired after Rangers parade; no injuries, police say
Two people were arrested in an altercation where shots were fired in an AT&T Stadium parking lot after the Texas Rangers championship parade wrapped up Friday afternoon, but no one was injured, according to Arlington police.
Around 2:45 p.m., officers responded to a report about shots having been fired in the AT&T Stadium parking lot 12 located in the 1200 block of Sanford Street and AT&T Way, near where the parade had started.
The occupants of two vehicles got into a “heated verbal argument,” Arlington police said. “We believe the argument stemmed from one of the vehicles attempting to back out of a parking spot, but being partially blocked by the other vehicle.”
Multiple people then exited both vehicles and started physically fighting, according to police. During the altercation, one of the individuals displayed a gun and fired it into the air.
No one was hit by the gunshots and there were no reports of any injuries, police said.
The man who fired the gun, 37-year-old Tommy Phonthalangsy, was arrested and booked into the Arlington City Jail on four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
He is also charged with one count of unlawful carrying of a weapon by a felon as he has prior felony convictions, according to investigators.
Tiffany Keovilavong, 30, another individual involved in the fight, was arrested on outstanding warrants, police said.
