Man dies at hospital after south Fort Worth shooting, authorities say

A man who was critically injured in a shooting Wednesday night in south Fort Worth died at a hospital, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Fort Worth police officers were dispatched to the fire station located at 3209 Hemphill St. shortly after 10:30 p.m. regarding a man who had arrived seeking treatment for a gunshot wound.

The victim had been shot in the chest, police said. He wasn’t able to provide any details about the shooting before being transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The medical examiner’s office identified the victim as 36-year-old Marco Nava of Fort Worth. He was pronounced dead shortly after 11 p.m. in the emergency room at John Peter Smith Hospital.

No suspects are in custody, officials said, and police are investigating what led up to the homicide.
