Two people died Sunday in Johnson County in what officials believe to be a murder-suicide, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Deputies responded around 7 a.m. to the 4000 block of Oakview Circle in Alvarado, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities believe 57-year-old Joe Wade Stewart shot and killed Nora Jean Stewart, 53, in the driveway of their home and then turned the gun on himself, according to the medical examiner’s records.

The cause of death for both people is listed as a gunshot wound to the head.
