Two people were found dead in Johnson County on Sunday in what authorities suspect as a murder-suicide, according to a news release.

Investigators with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said Gary Neal Underwood, 73, shot and killed Leigh Ann Underwood, 66, with a shotgun, then turned the gun on himself. When deputies arrived at their home on County Road 1126 near Godley, Leigh Underwood was dead, and Gary Underwood died as paramedics arrived.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has released findings that agree with the ruling of a murder-suicide, listing Leigh Underwood’s death as a homicide and Gary Underwood’s as a suicide.

Authorities said the original call they received also led them to believe it was a murder-suicide, but did not provide any additional details.
